In 2002, the commercialization of electricity excesses, for the sugar cane sector, would have been of 260 MW to the electric sector. Thus, considering a potential in 2001 of 18,264 MW and that the necessities for the self-sufficiency of the sugar cane sector in 2001 the 1,407 MW was the equivalent, it would remain a potential of excesses of 16,857 MW, having been commercialized only 133 MW (0.8% of the total). Considering this potential of generation of excesses of electricity for the sugar cane sector and the necessity verified with the crisis in the supplying of electric energy in 2000/2001 to expand it offers of generation, as well as, to diversify it, the article analyzes the format of the main ones of financing used by the sugar cane sector in the activity in comment. The research points the necessity of less expensive and accessible official lines of financing. In this intention, the research presents the following lines of direction for improvement of how much to the financing lines: (i) must differentiate the technology, (ii) to stimulate enterprises that promote efficiency energy, (iii) to differentiate costs between small e great producing; (v) also considers the formatting of Ethical Investment Funds diminishing the cost of the financing; e (vi) the incentive to the Project Finance involving purchasers of carbon credits.
